Description

Based on written accounts and uncovered artifacts, we know that many medieval villages had a “Folienschmied”—a crafter of the town’s foil bundles. In fact, all of our foil card techniques in use today originate from these master smiths! Each foilsmith was required by the foiler’s guild to complete a six-year apprenticeship and demonstrate aptitude in basic tasks like tempering, card-hammering, and putting-on-the-foil-ing, lest the town suffer without foiled Magic: The Gathering cards. We honor the past by offering all nine foil drops from the December Superdrop, gleaming in Traditional Foil, as intended by our ancestors.
